Presentation Evening 2018
Posted on: 22/11/2018The achievements of students at The Charles Dickens School were celebrated on 8 November with their annual Presentation Evening at The Winter Gardens in Margate.
Hosted by Ms Cardus, Executive Headteacher, the evening celebrated progress and achievement with the presentation of certificates, prizes and award trophies. A musical interlude was provided by some the School’s extremely talented singers.
The Mayor and Mayoress of Broadstairs, Councillor Paul and Mrs Wendy Moore were in attendance and escorted by the School’s Head Boy and Head Girl. Special guests included Governors and Sponsors and the School thanks them for their support of this fantastic event.
Appreciation goes to guest speaker Ms Trudy Thomas, a recently retired fundraiser from the Alzheimer’s Society, for giving her time and presenting an inspirational talk about how life’s best laid plans may not go as expected but how to turn negatives into positives.
Thanks must go to staff and associates who organised and supported the event, to students who attended and to parents who continually support the School and the progress of their children.
Ms Cardus said “The annual Presentation Evening is an opportunity for students, parents, staff, governors and the local community to come together to celebrate the fantastic achievements of both our current and former students. Individual prizes for achievement and progress as well as contributions to the school or community are recognised. In addition student excellence in areas of sport, Art, Drama, Dance and Music are celebrated. There is such an array of talent in the School it is always a pleasure to come together for the evening to celebrate these and provide an opportunity for some students to showcase their talent during the evening event.
The speaker, Ms Trudy Thomas, was an inspiration and we are so grateful to her for taking time out of her busy schedule to spend time with us this evening and making our evening so special.”
