CDS is delighted to announce that they have achieved the School Games Gold Mark Award for the 2022/23 academic year.

The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and the school is delighted to have been recognised for its success.Sporting achievements this year include:

Winners in multiple year groups, and overall, in Thanet School Games Cross Country

Winners in Thanet School Games Badminton

Winners in Orienteering

Winners in Girls Basketball

Winners in Year 7 Dodgeball

Running multiple in-school competitions including football, netball, rowing, cross country, rounders, and athletics.

With lots of young people competing in local inter-school competitions this year, the school is extremely proud of its pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport, including those young volunteers, leaders and officials who made the competitions possible.

As part of the application CDS were asked to fulfil criteria in the areas of participation, competition, workforce and clubs, and are pleased that the hard work of everyone at the school has been rewarded this year.

A special thanks to Mr Allen and all of the PE Department for their continued pursuit of creating opportunities for CDS pupils to compete in.
