CDS Awards Evening 2024
Posted on: 29/11/2024The Charles Dickens School Awards Evening is a chance for the School to celebrate the achievements of its pupils and is a big event in the school calendar.
Hosted by Mr Smith and Mr Shepperson, the evening celebrated the progress and achievements of pupils, both past and present, with the presentation of certificates, prizes and award trophies. Heads of Year invited their year group award winners to receive their prizes. The School was pleased to welcome the Mayor of Broadstairs, Cllr Mike Garner, who presented the most recent Duke of Edinburgh cohorts with their Silver and Bronze Awards, and certificates. The School’s Scholars Programme pupils received their Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards and the Brilliant Club Awards, also presented by the Mayor.
Thanks go to Helen Hart, President of the Isle of Thanet Sunrise Rotary Club who attended and presented the Young Citizenship Award 2024 to one of the School’s pupils.
A musical interlude was provided by some of the school’s extremely talented musicians and singers. Canapés were served by the school’s extremely talented Hospitality & Catering pupils, which they had prepared throughout the day.
Appreciation goes to the School’s Keynote Speaker Steve Daley MBE, who delivered a most inspirational and motivational presentation to guests entitled “The Art of the Impossible”, giving a little insight into the difficulties faced by those who suffer a disability, or who may be different, but how determination can get you to the top! Mr Daley is the Para Talent Manager for the FA (Para Football) and the School welcomes its new affiliation with him.
Thanks must go to staff and associates who organised and supported this evening, to pupils who attended and to parents and carers who continually support the School and the progress of their children.
