Association of Character Education Quality Mark
Posted on: 31/01/2025CDS are pleased to announce that they have achieved the Association of Character Education quality mark, one of very few schools in the country who have achieved this accolade. The quality mark provides recognition for transformative character education which is delivered in an explicit, planned and reflective way, to “enable the cultivation of positive character qualities in the interests of human flourishing.”
Lauren Roden, Assistant Headteacher for Personal Development said, “We were at pains to say to the assessors, for us this is not about character for character’s sake. This is about building pupils’ character (which we frame around our CARE values of Compassion, Aspiration, Resilience and Enthusiasm) with a view to pupils self-regulating, making good choices and achieving outcomes that increase the breadth of opportunities available to them.”
