We had a bumper night at KS4 Cooking Skills Club and, continuing with our popular TikTok recipe theme, students took on the challenge of making pan-fried hash browns completely from scratch. A hugely successful session with some seriously impressive results!

We are delighted to introduce you to our Senior Prefects for this academic year.  Recognisable by the red trim on their blazers, these young leaders play an important role in supporting our school community.

Our Y9 pupils have been developing their observational drawing skills by exploring mark making with ink to capture the intricate details and textures of shells. The results were fantastic, with excellent examples demonstrating creativity, precision and attention to detail.

Our Y11 after-school intervention programme launched this week, with an impressive 66% of students attending extra GCSE support sessions. Interventions run after school Tuesday to Friday and pupils should check the in school timetable for more information.

We're collecting donations for the Salvation Army Food Bank to support local families in need.  Donations can be given to your Tutor, Head of Year or Mr Allen.  Every donation, no matter how small, will make a real difference. Thank you for your support and generosity.

KS4 Life Skills Cooking Club took on another viral TikTok recipe this week: Mama’s Crispy Chicken Wings with hot honey drizzle! They practised butchery, marinating and oven-baking techniques, discovering the secret to extra crispy wings: baking powder. Next week, something sweet!

OUR TRUST

BCAT is a small, but highly ambitious Academy Trust consisting of 3 schools,  Barton Court Grammar School, The Charles Dickens School and the new free school, Barton Manor School.

Barton Court Grammar School (BCGS) is a state, selective, co-educational school with a strong reputation for its high academic standards and its caring and supportive ethos. The School is an accredited ‘Advanced Thinking School’ and is also the lead school of Barton Court Academy Trust (BCAT). The Charles Dickens School (CDS) joined BCAT on 1 March 2017 and Barton Manor School, a free school which is a 5 form entry 11-18 non-selective school with a joint Sixth Form with BCGS is co-sited to BCGS and opened on 1 September 2022.

The Post

Governors wish to appoint an experienced Examinations Manager with a good knowledge of exam board procedures and protocols.  Candidates must be computer literate, well organised and a good communicator in order to use and disseminate professional and technical information pertinent to each exam board.  NVQ3 or higher qualifications, together with GCSE Maths/English are required and you should be confident in the use of Excel with experience in the use of exam board ICT software and a working knowledge of BROMCOM is desirable.

Hours are 37 per week - 08.00-16.00 Mon-Thu and 08.00-15.30 Fri (to include 30 minutes unpaid lunch break).

This is a term time only post plus 5 Staff Development Days plus an additional 5 days in August when the GCSE and A Level results are published.
